Supporting Those Who Serve and Protect Delaware County
Delaware County Pay It Forward is proud to launch Hope for Heroes — a community investment initiative supporting those who serve and protect Delaware County.
This program provides funding for equipment, training, wellness initiatives, safety enhancements, and operational needs that strengthen local first responders and service professionals.
Examples of Prior Investments:
- Officer assistance following a line-of-duty shooting
- K9 funding for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department
- Speed sign purchases in Manchester
- Infrared drone and safety equipment
Program Structure
Hope for Heroes operates as a community investment program rather than a traditional grant. Departments submit proposals outlining specific needs, and selected projects receive Community Investment Awards.
The following guidelines are intended to help determine eligibility and provide clarity on how applications will be reviewed.
Eligibility:
- Delaware County-based public safety or service organization (law enforcement, fire, EMS, emergency management, veterans service organizations, schools for educator safety/wellness initiatives, healthcare service groups)
- Must directly serve Delaware County residents
- One application per organization (may include multiple projects)
How Applications Are Reviewed
Applications are reviewed by the Delaware County Pay It Forward Board of Directors using a consistent and thoughtful evaluation process. Each request is considered based on overall community impact, urgency of need, number of residents served, long-term value, financial responsibility, and alignment with the Hope for Heroes mission.
Our goal is to ensure that available funding is directed toward projects that provide meaningful, lasting benefit to Delaware County while supporting those who serve and protect our community.
Funding decisions may result in full or partial awards depending on available resources and the number of applications received.
Timeline
- April 1 – Application opens
- April 30 – Application deadline
- May 1–20 – Review period
- Late May – Awards announced
